The Problem With Large Pores and Home Remedies

There are some things that are on your face that you really can’t do anything about, unless you want to shell out a lot of money for plastic surgery. You may not like your nose or the shape of your eyes, but we all learn to live with what we have. Most of the time, they are not nearly as bad as we imagine, but because we look at them every day, we tend to be pickier about these things. There are some things that you can do something about, however, and those things are cheap to treat. One of those things would be large pores on the skin.

You may not realize that you have a problem with large pores until someone points it out to you. The pores are tiny openings in your skin that secrete oils. When your pores are large, they can be quite problematic. They can collect more dirt from your day, and they can also hold on to makeup that would normally wash right off of your face. What this means is that large pores can lead to more breakouts than you should normally be experiencing.

Besides breakouts, there is something else about large pores that can mar your appearance a bit. These are actually quite visible when they are enlarged, and that might mean your makeup is not as smooth as it could be, and your skin will seem uneven. Those are both things that women often worry about. And while men don’t wear makeup, the look of large pores can be problematic for them as well. There are some men who would never care about such a thing, but young and single guys may very well have this on their mind when they look in the mirror each day.

There are a few simple, inexpensive things you can do to help when you think you have large pores and would like to do something about them. You should always be sure to clean your face each morning and night to keep all of your pores as clean as possible.

You can temporarily shrink large pores by exfoliating and cleaning your skin - use one after the other for cleansing and exfoliating the skin.

  • Sugar Scrub: Ingredients - One tablespoon each of sugar, olive oil and honey. Wet face, apply scrub by rubbing very gently in a circular motion. Remove with water with hands only.
  • Egg White Mask: Mix 2 egg whites with a few drops of lemon juice. Apply on face and leave on for 5-7 minutes, then rinse with hands. As egg whites dry, they tinghten the skin and pull debris out of pores. Lemon is a natural fruit acid which also helps to exfoliate.

Alternative home remedies:

  • Salt Scrub: Mix table salt and buttermilk into a paste, apply on enlarged pores and massage well. Rinse with warm water.
  • Almond Meal Mask: Mix almond meal with enough water to make a paste. Apply to pores for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water, then apply witch hazel or a solution of apple cider vinegar and water.
  • Bran and Grapefruit is also used to tightens large pores.
