Safely Lose Weight In A Week?

So you need to lose a few pounds in a hurry? You’ve got a party coming up and you need to be able to fit into that one dress that’s perfect for the occasion. The only trouble is, the dress is a size too small today.

Is there a way to lose the several pounds required to make that dress fit? One option, although not recommended, is to simply stop eating. Starving yourself may result in the desired weight loss, but your looks will suffer, making the effort come to naught.

If your goal is to lose weight in a week, it may not be easy, but it’s certainly doable. The trick is to do so safely, keeping your nutrition adequate and your looks intact. Let’s see how this mission possible works.

At the top of your list of things to do should be EXERCISE (notice its in capital letters!). If you’re serious about losing weight in a week, an exercise regimen is your best friend. Cycling, swimming, running and weight training are excellent forms of exercise that really burn the calories.

If the weather’s bad, you can simply use your living room as your personal sports training ground. You needn’t stress your body by speedy exercises, you just need to do a set number of stretches, situps or pull-ups. Push yourself to attain a number you might not have thought possible. You want to have sweat running down your forehead at the end of each workout. Set aside time in the morning and evening to do your exercises without fail. If you want to lose weight in a week, it takes discipline. Hey, you can do it!

While you’re making every effort to burn calories - and fat - you must be sure to eat properly. Cut everything out of your menus that has the slightest suggestion of fat. No fat allowed. What you must include is plenty of protein and every vitamin and mineral you can find. Veggies and fruit provide fiber and nutrition galore, while being low in calories. Take a good supplement to be sure you’re getting what your body needs to stay healthy. Pile your salad plate full of dark greens and your favorite veggies and seasonings. Go light on dressings. Learn to like olive oil and vinegar dressings if you don’t already enjoy them.

Granted, when you urgently need to lose weight in a week, it’s tempting to get on the scales ten times a day. Resist the urge. Instead, weigh yourself before you begin your weight loss program and don’t weigh in again for three days. Stick with your exercise program and keep regular hours of sleep. When next you weigh in, you’ll have results. You’ll surely weigh a few pounds less, encouragement enough to keep you going and exercising harder than ever.
